We started off our morning going to our Ward's "Yankee Doodle Breakfast". It was supposed to start at 6:30, and i don't think we were too far behind schedule, that's a first! we were all tired, but glad we went. Connor and i walked around in the grass a bit while he drove his favorite Lightning McQueen car, but then ants started biting us!!! i carried him back to his Daddy and said it was time to switch kids. They went to go play while we waited for the breakfast to start and i think they had fun. Connor even was given a flag to hold! He carried it around very proudly.
I demanded we take a quick family picture as soon as we got home, and luckily for me, they all agreed to it. it took a few tries, but i'm just glad to have atleast one that turned out ok!
After pictures i decided it was nap time. I had accidently given Evelynn the wrong type of bottle at the breakfast so she refused to take it, so she had to eat first of course. But after she had a full tummy, she was out like a rock! Then Connor fell asleep rather early for his nap. i had had a horrible headache, so i went and took a two hour nap too!
After naps we all had lunch. Then i snatched a couple more pictures of my cuties! you can see who was enthusiastic about it and who wasn't, rather easily, haha!
You may be wondering what is all over Connor's shirt in that previous picture. it's brown sugar. my mischievous two year old got into the brown sugar and made a huge mess! i had to clean it up of course while i made dinner, and he demanded his clothes had to come off. the crazy kid!
i made a yummy dinner for us (definitely not a BBQ, it was WAY too hot and humid!!!!) and then we planned to do some sparklers after it got dark. unfortunately, we never got to do that though. i somehow lost them so we didn't get to complete our night with kid friendly "fireworks" like we had planned. oh well. we had a pretty good day and were glad to have Caleb home with us the entire day this year! we missed our loved ones quite a bit, but sent them pictures to feel better about it. We hope everyone had a great 4th like we did! how lucky we are to live in this great country!
