We started off July with a play date at the zoo! we went in the morning but it was still over 100* outside and the zoo was quite empty. i don't really blame people for not being as crazy as us and wanting to stay inside in air conditioning!!! We still had fun though. We got to ride the train and at least sit in the shade and not walk in the sun! Then we went to the water areas to let the kids play. Everyone looked hot and grouchy, but the water seemed to reinvigorate them, especially Connor! he didn't want to leave! Evelyn was so well behaved on her first zoo trip, even though it was so hot. i gave her a cool bottle and she guzzled it down while Connor was in the water, so it must have helped cool her off!
He did NOT want pictures taken, so i decided to just make do with a video instead!
Later that afternoon we had Evelynn's two month doctor's appointment! i wasn't excited about all the shots i knew she was going to get, but i was looking forward to finding out how much she has grown! she is now 11 lbs, 11 ozs, which is the 60th percentile for weight, and 23 1/2 inches, which is the 75th percentile for height! her head circumference was 38 centimeters, which is in the 50th percentile. She got 5 immunizations, 1 by mouth, the other 4 shots. she did so well, and Caleb said she didn't cry until the 2nd poke, and quit crying soon after he picked her up. she is such a little sweetheart!
On the 3rd Caleb got to get off work a couple hours early, so we went to the pool when he got home! i didn't take any pictures while we were there, but Evelynn got to "swim" with us for a little while, and Connor had a blast in the water! When we got home everyone got baths. Daddy gave Evelynn a bath all by himself for the very first time!
Connor got his bath while Evelynn was getting hers, and i took a shower as soon as he was all clean. As i got out of the shower i took one look at Connor and flipped out! he had made a huge mess all over the bathroom with my makeup, as well as tried to put it all over himself! it looked like a black eye at first glance and i was pretty concerned. what a mischief maker!
This morning we had two lovely messes after Daddy went to work! i found Connor getting into the peanut butter and as i told him "noooooo!!!" he put it in his hair. i took a quick picture and then bathed him. then i put the peanut butter up high in the pantry so he wouldn't do a repeat of this mess.
BUT........
let's just say, that didn't work out so well.
A little later i decided to sit down and kill two birds with one stone, and feed Evelynn while planning my upcoming lesson, when i suddenly started smelling peanut butter. i turned around to see Connor COVERED in it!!!! i was shocked, and so ticked off! when i told him to go get in the tub while i took away the peanut butter container, he proceeded to smear it down the hallway, all over the bathroom, and all over the tub. i was furious at that point, because i had done all my cleaning for the day after cleaning up the previous peanut butter mess, so i would be able to focus on other things today and not have as big of a mess! what a disaster. i had a weird foreboding feeling when i woke up this morning that it would be one of those days, and i sure was right.
I have now spent the majority of my day cleaning up messes. i DID manage to get my lesson planned, and i'm getting blogging done so i suppose i should accept that as an accomplishment, but i really think i need a timeout when Daddy gets home!!! it's a good thing it's the weekend!
