Our September

I haven't blogged since we returned from our trip to Idaho over a month ago.
Why?
Well, because school started. It's a pretty busy semester for me.
but, I finally have some time! A couple of my classes run in 2 week units. The first week requires that I have pretty much 85% of the work for the unit completed... which leaves me with like an extra 50% of spare time during the 2nd week. And with all the fancy math concepts I'm supposed to be learning in my math class, I probably could calculate out the correct answer for that increase in spare time, but I'm not going to. Mainly because I don't want to, and also because I hate math.

At the beginning of September it was Caleb's birthday!

Caleb wanted a Wii U for his birthday. I decided that I should surprise him with one, and that I would give it to him the day before his birthday and tell him I felt guilty about not getting him what he really wanted. I'm usually horrible with surprises so I was excited to give him his gift and see if he would really be surprised.
I disguised it in an old diaper box, and put a pillow inside it so it would confuse him even more when he opened it.

I'm sure you can tell that he was EXTREMELY surprised and excited!
Connor was just as excited as well because he saw Mario on the package and started jumping around yelling about it. He was thrilled when Daddy sat down and played it with him.

We also got him a balloon and another Wii remote so that we all could play games together and Connor could have his own controller. Evelynn thought Daddy's balloon was supper cool.

On his birthday his coworkers took him out for lunch and we got to tag along after Connor got out of Preschool.

They ordered him this gigantic sandwhich that he was pretty excited about.
I was suprised he could even take a bite out of it!

Because he had such a big lunch we didn't want to go out to dinner on his birthday.
We decided we would go out for a late lunch/early dinner the next day.

We went to The Cracker Barrel.

On Thursday, September 11th, Connor rode the bus to and from school for the very first time!

You may recall that our boy is not a big fan of pictures.
Our little girl sure is, though! She has started doing this funny little pose and doing a squishy grin whenever she knows I'm taking a picture,
She wanted to get on the bus with Big Brother when he left!

The first day he was pretty scared. He freaked out when I tried to take the blanket the first day. He didn't even need it the second day though!

I was so nervous about sending him on the bus, but we were very proud of him for being such a big boy!

When Evelynn and I went inside I had to get some homework done. She made me laugh because she got one of the pictures of Jesus Christ we have and started carrying it around and talking to it. How funny is she?!

The next morning Connor had the bus to wait for again. This time he wanted to ride in the wagon while we waited!

On the 17th, Arizona had another CRAZY downpour!
It's been quite a rainy couple of weeks here.

I thought Evelynn would enjoy seeing the rain so I took a little break from my school work and took her outside on the porch to see.
She decided that it was better to go out and get soaking wet!
Connor had no interest in it because he doesn't really like the feeling of things spraying on his skin. When I asked him to come outside with me he just looked at me and told me, "NOOO!!!!"
I eventually had to get back to my homework, so when I brought Evelynn inside she was NOT pleased! She was pretty heartbroken that I would stop her play!

The next day it was sunshiney and bright!
Evelynn was so excited to wait with me for her big brother to come home from school.

I got a call from Connor's Preschool teacher who said that Connor had gone potty on the toilet at school. I was shocked because he won't go near the toilet at home and screams like I'm beating him if I even try. So, that evening while I was doing a meeting for one of my classes, I sent the kids to the store to buy a treat for him!
Connor chose new hotwheels cars, but Evelynn came home with a stuffed Unicorn that her daddy had picked out for her. And boy does she love it!
(Also, do you notice my son wanted his picture taken!?!?! I was so excited when he told me "CHEESE!"

That weekend we took the kids to a birthday party. There was a pinata and both of the kids got a turn to hit it. Connor thought it was pretty exciting!

The next Monday we had an appointment with Connor's ENT to discuss replacing the tubes in his ears. We had to drive Caleb to work, so we decided to stop and play at the park for a little while.
It was just over 80* outside so we thought it would be really nice weather for it, but it was SO humid that we only lasted about 20 minutes before Connor was drenched in sweat and asking to go home.

Caleb went out of town on last Thursday, the 25th.
I told him I thought he should take some pictures with the kids while waiting for Connor's school bus, and he agreed that it wasn't too bad of an idea.

Thursday was a crazy stressful day for me. I won't go into details, but I'll just say that I was tired out, tearful, and stressed by the time we returned home from taking Caleb to the airport that night.

The kids and I returned Redbox movies, ate popcorn and icecream, and tried to do some fun things while he was gone!
We know he had a ton of fun in Utah with his friends.
We were very happy to welcome him home again Monday night.

Yesterday, on the very last day of September, Evelynn got to wear barrettes in her hair for the very first time! She often will wear pigtails in her hair, but usually they fall out or she pulls them out.
When I sat down to do her hair she excitedly showed me the barettes and so I told her we would give it a try.
When I finished her hair she was so excited she wouldn't stop dancing around and hold still!
I finally told her she would have to sit on the chair if she couldn't stop moving around...

Today Evelynn watched a Barbie movie and was SO THRILLED about it.
She had wanted to watch it the night before, but Daddy wasn't particularly thrilled in her interest in the Barbie movie, and Connor gave an utterly disgusted look when he was shown it.
