Wednesday April 22 was Evelynn's 2nd Birthday
We started off the morning doing some cleaning, and Evelynn picked out her own clothes and put her shorts on herself. I was VERY impressed with her!
I had my visiting teachers come over for a bit, then the kids helped me make Evelynn's birthday cake. I didn't take any pictures of that -- I'm not really sure why -- but I did take a picture of the cake. Evelynn picked out the mix and the frosting, so she was SO excited about making it!
It was then that I realized I still hadn't wrapped any of Evelynn's presents and that I most likely didn't even have wrapping paper for it. Turns out, I was right. I didn't have any. I put the majority of her presents in gift bags that were girl colored (I always save my gift bags!), but her big gift wouldn't fit. I decided that I would wrap it in tissue paper -- whatever I could find in the closet-- so she could have the enjoyment of ripping the paper off something. Because really, that's what kids enjoy most. Evelynn was my big helper and she had no idea it was her present she was wrapping. I hid the picture so she couldn't see what it was and get excited.
Evelynn also insisted on repainting her fingernails so she could have "pitty fingas" for her birthday. I'm serious when I say it was all her. She brought me the polish and told me "Momma! Pitty fingas! peeze! Fingas!" with a puppy dog eyed look on her face. Who can argue with that?!
We also go out to dinner for birthdays, so we went to the Cracker Barrel for Evelynn's dinner.
Neither her or Daddy were very enthusiastic about pictures, but Connor was willing to take some with me!
After dinner we came home and did presents.
Connor was just as excited as Evelynn was. He sang happy birthday all day long with me to his little sister. He really understands the concepts of birthdays, while Evelynn hasn't quite got it yet.
She opened her big present last, and Daddy took it out of the box. She was SO excited when she saw what it was!
She didn't hesitate to climb right up and go down her slide. Of course her brother was thrilled as well!
I snapped some pictures of the birthday girl and her brother before opening pictures to share:
I sure love these little one's of mine!
Last (but definitely not least), it was birthday cake time!
2 years old
Daddy had to relight the candle about four different times because big brother was SO excited and kept blowing it out.

The kids were thrilled about getting to eat cake, even though it was past bedtime.
Special occasion, ok?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, PRINCESS!
