December - {minus Christmas Eve/Day & Graduation}

On the 1st my husband got our Christmas lights up. I always love Christmas lights so he handled it all and when I found just enough pain relief to stand for about 20 minutes without feeling like someone was repeatedly shooting me in the head (because of the spinal headache), I went out and admired his work.

The next day was Evelynn's dance studio's Christmas Party. The kids were so excited to go and have breakfast and pictures with Santa.

They also had some activities, one of which was decorating sugar cookies. Each of the kids wanted to show off their work.

On the 4th we had our first snowfall. The kids were so excited!

On the 7th Evelynn's Preschool had a field trip to the Ogden Christmas Village where they got a tour from Mrs. Claus and got to ride a city bus there for free thanks to a program for school kids.

This probably won't surprise you to hear, but Evelynn ditched me to sit with her friends and teacher. So I got to see how excited Liam was with no other interruptions.

It was so cool to hear about each of the cute little houses there and what the kids ooh and ahhh over them.

They also got to ride the train

Of course there were pictures

And then the kids got to do a special activity and sing songs with Mrs Claus! This is where our little adventure took a downturn. When Liam had to give back the sleigh bells, he threw a massive tantrum. It went on for about 20 minutes in front of ALL the other parents... eventually I pretended to leave him because that always calms him down. I wasn't happy about having to resort to that tactic, but he was pushing me away and tried to throw his stroller. THE KID WAS OUT OF CONTROL!

The teacher let me know when it was Evelynn's turn so I could quickly come inside and grab pictures.

After my little "bye, I'm leaving" stunt, Liam was perfectly calm and requested to sit with Mrs Claus like his sister had gotten to. He wasn't the most smiley, but atleast there was no more screaming.

A lot of the other parents had caught an earlier bus home so there were just a few of us on the way back. Evelynn refused to sit with me and said she wanted to sit with her teacher.

After the field trip finished up Evelynn asked to go to FIIZ. I decided we could do that.

On December 11th I got to meet a friend from my online program. It was so so fun! When we were in the same class she lived somewhere else (I think it might have been Chicago?) but now her little family is in Utah for the time-being and they just had their first baby. SO, not only did I get to meet this wonderful friend face-to-face, but I also got my baby-fix.

On the 14th we headed up to Rexburg for GRADUATION, which will be included in a separate post.

On the 17th our asthmatic youngest child needed breathing treatments. The inversion around here gets really bad.

That evening the kids got to open a couple of their Christmas present from their West grandparents because I knew what they were,  and each of the kids were having a movie/pj day the next day at school. They were so excited about their Christmas jammies and blankets!

On the 19th Evelynn's preschool class at their Christmas Program. I was a little late getting there and Liam fell asleep so I was in the back and couldn't really see her (the red birds were sitting on the ground). I did snatch these few pictures though when they were trimming a Christmas tree!

How cute is my little redbird?!

A special guest came to their party... If you can't tell by these two faces, they were ecstatic!

On the 20th it was Connor's class Christmas party that I had agreed to help with. One of our dance friends was so nice and took Evelynn to dance for me so I could participate. We did a "Snowman Slam" game where you throw snowballs to knock down a pyramid of snowmen cups. I think it was quite a hit!

That night we had another great hit... Cousins came to stay with us!
We showed them this awesome restaurant called the Prairie Schooner (it's in Ogden and super cool! You eat in covered wagons!) and then we felt so bad because something there made Mitchell sick. He has celiacs disease so we usually try to be really careful where we take them to eat. Luckily the kids all thought it was the coolest, so I think they've forgiven us.

After dinner we stopped on our way back home and the Ogden Christmas Village. It was soooo cold and we hadn't quite prepped our kids (forgot gloves and hats) so it was a short but sweet stop. We had really wanted to let the kids ride the train but it wasn't working. We were pretty bummed out.

And look at this, peeps... I managed to grab a picture with all 6 of the cousins! If you're wondering where the 6th is... he's over on the left trying to escape down the stairs. But he's there!

That night our elf's made themselves a teeter-totter. Cousins were so excited to see that their elf "Elfie" found them! Our kids were sure that Jingle was excited to have a friend visit.

On the 23rd we woke up to see a Winter Wonderland outside, and our main man was so sweet to wake up and head outside with the kiddos to build them a great big snowman.

Seriously, didn't it turn out great?! I was surprised how quickly them got him built. It was the perfect packing snow!

That evening we went to Grandma Anderson's Christmas party (Caleb's maternal grandmother).
The kids were wild (as usual) but they were also so excited because they love opening presents and playing games there.

It was the 23rd -- our "engage-aversary" -- so we went on a drive to find the best lights we could from the warmness of our car.
