Crazy Events of the Week

Last weekend we convinced Daddy to take us to the pool to play! We had the entire pool to ourselves the majority of the time and we had so much fun! We had Evelynn in the stroller part of the time so she could watch us but we didn't want her in the water the entire time.

The kids had so much fun playing in the pool with their Daddy that they fell asleep right after their baths!

we spent the week trying to get the kids recovered from their illnesses of the previous week. Evelynn has been sadly confused about what nighttime hours happen in the family... she wants to sleep all day and play all night! the first two pictures below were taken after midnight when she was sitting up and "talking" to us and laughing everytime she got our attention! then theres a cute naptime picture, and of course, two pictures of her on the couch where i thought it was hilarious how she posed herself with her elbow propped up!

we didn't seem to have much going on here besides the kids recovery from illness, and then me feeling unwell due to lack of sleep and i'm pretty sure i caught whatever the rest of the family had before, because i was pretty under the weather!

Wednesday we took Connor to see an ENT to discuss putting tubes in his ears. We did a hearing test, an examination, and discussed pro's and con's, and we feel this is the best thing for Connor. He hears EXCELLENT when he doesn't have an ear infection, but when he does, it jumbles the sounds and confuses him. The Doctor said its quite likely there has been a speech delay due to the confusion that is caused every time ear infections occur. If he learns something one way, then the sound changes, it's very plausible that he would just avoid saying those words because he is confused and doesn't know which way is the right way to say it. Due to the crazy amount of infections he's already had, there's no reason not to get them, and the speech concerns are just another reason to move forward with it.

Then last night (Thursday the 15th), Connor was covered in hives out of the blue! i freaked out because he hasn't done anything out of the ordinary, or tried any new food, but it was scary for me!
I gave him benedryl and planned to call his Doctor first thing in the morning if it wasn't gone when we woke up, and undfortunately, it wasn't. it looked a bit imrpved at first but i still called his Doctor. When i got off the phone i turned around to find it even worse than it origanlly had been, especially on his side! We took the first appointment we could get into at 9:10 AM and dropped Caleb off at work so i could have the car. Evelynn was so well behaved while i worried and focused on her brother. The Doctor said it is a form of hives that is pretty nasty looking, and referred to it as "hives to the nth degree", so it's not cool at all. She said it's an allergic reaction, probably from the antibiotics Connor was on for his double ear infection. I was reluctant to agree that was the cause since he hasn't had any in an entire week, but i don't know what else it could be, so i'm accepting it. He is no longer allowed to take Omnicef (cefdiner) and she has listed it as an allergy for him. Luckily, we shouldn't need to take that antibiiotic since he will be getting tubes in his ears on the 29th of this month. We are sad that he is so miserable though!

The Pediatrician prescribed a steroid to brings down the inflammation and swelling the hives are causing. Luckily Connor has been willing to take it so far. The hives have been getting worse throughout the day. I took pictures to document it, but they have gotten WAY worse since the pictures were taken. The back of his head and neck is completely covered, and his side is practically one big one covering the entire area now. He keeps itching it and crying about his head. It makes me so sad to see it!

I love these sweet babies of mine! We are hoping for a speedy recovery for our little man, and that no one else will be getting sick here any time soon!

We hope everyone's week has gone better than ours!
