Today I have a quick update about us. And of course new cute pictures of the kids!
For dinner on Monday we had Lasagna. The kids got so messy eating their dinner!
Well, it was more Evelynn got so messy, and Connor needed his bath too.
On Tuesday we did Zumba, like we do every normal week, and then we suffered through some heat at the playground. The week before we had skipped the playground adventure to avoid the heat, but it was really hard on the kids. They have come to know that it is part of the routine. They play nicely while we workout, then they get to go to the park to play.
Usually we get a ride home from my friend, so I put Evelynn in her old carseat because it is easier to transport. A few hours after we got home I look up to see what Evelynn was doing because she was being quiet - you know, that "too quiet, up to no good" type of quiet. I find her just lounging in here eating applesauce, and I laugh, and laugh, and laugh!
I was trying to get some pictures of her, since I think her little outfit is so cute with the headband. She wasn't too impressed to start out with.
However, every time I see this pictures, I laugh my head off! As soon as she realized I was taking pictures of her, she got the biggest grin on her face!
As usual, Connor wasn't too interested in the pictures. He wanted to eat the very same breakfast his daddy had, and he wanted to play with his toys.- Notice that he has a car in his hand while he eats. There is ALWAYS a car attached to this kid, everywhere we go.
Now, this next picture wasn't the best, but it caught Evelynn's cute "pucker up" face!
She LOVES giving kisses. She puckers up, and says "mmmmmmmmmm". She asks for kisses all the time, every day, and grins like a loon when she gets what she asked for.
Here she is asking brother for a kiss.
She was kind of on a roll with the cute behaviors on that day.
She climbed on this trunk and was happily swinging her feet around, just hanging out.
And then that night, she sits on all of the pillows I had pulled off our bed and put in a pile on the ground, lounges back, and grabs some books off the book shelf. She looked pretty comfy! She loves reading books. I'm usually having to tell her that she just won't have any interest in chapter books yet, so it's pointless to bring them to me.
Like I said, the cute behaviors were just rolling on Tuesday!
The next morning she was pretty cute too.
On that day, Wednesday, we had plans to go look at a car in the evening. When we drove home from "church" on sunday (I say it that way because, if you recall, we didn't actually make it to church that day) I had a very distinct feeling that we needed to trade our car in and get something else. We had thought about it in the past but the timing just hadn't felt right. I couldn't ignore the prompting so Caleb and I discussed it, asked my wonderful parents for advice about it, then prayed about it. After all was said and done, we felt that it was the right thing for us.
I made Evelynn a new bow to go with one of her outfits. I found the perfect color ribbon stashed in my scrapbooking stuff (I had no idea why), and so I had to take a picture of her.
Besides, she's cute! And who DOESN'T want to see a cute one year old!?
This craftiness took place while Connor watched a hot wheels show on YouTube.
That kid adores shows about cars, inluding ones about monster trucks.
Ultimately the car buying process was incredibly stressful. I won't write about it here, but if you want to know, you can ask. We didn't leave the lot with our new mode of transportation until 11 PM. The kids were exhausted, and Connor was traumatized when his red car was driven away. We made sure to take one last picture of him in front of it.
I know it's just a car, but our little boy gets extremely attached to things and he craves consistency. We tried to explain what was happening but past all of the freaking out, he couldn't seem to understand. He probably would have tried to chase after the car if I hadn't been holding him. He reached out after it and cried and called for "our car". I felt horrible about how it all happened.
The next morning I was in a bit of a panic over the change, but my wonderful mother helped me put it in perspective more. Our phone call was interrupted when I saw a cute little kid walking around the living room...and I realized it was NOT Connor, but he was wearing Connor's clothes. It was too short to be Connor, and why was he walking weird??? And wait...I'm holding Connor! That can't be Connor. Why is that kid wearing Connor's clothes?! Then it dawned on me that it was Evelynn. And the likely culprit to putting her brother's clothes on her, was her Daddy. HA!
She brings us clothes and asks to wear them all the time. I guess I should have assumed that if she brought her dad Connor's clothes, he would put them on her. He said he was waiting to see how long it would take me to figure it out. What a goof!
We walked Caleb out to the car that morning as he left for work so that we could take pictures of our new car, which is actually a Jeep Liberty.
Then later that day the kids and I got to spend some time hanging out with one of my dad's cousins and her kids, in which two of them are the same age as my kids.
We had a lot of fun and got to swim and eat lunch together.
These final pictures are just of Evelynn in one of her new outfits. I mentioned last post that she is very opinionated about what she wants to wear. In trying this outfit on her, she let me know she liked it. So although it's still a bit big, she wore it all day. And wore her sassy little attitude on her face as well!

I am so excited to see you guys, your kids are getting so big!
