Ending May, Beginning June

First of all, let me share this video of Connor swimming that i totally forgot about!
He's getting so big and we have been really proud of him for learning new things.

Here is Evelynn perched on one of her favorite places. She seems to think that she is quite a big girl because she can climb up there all by herself. She was not pleased when I moved it from the living room to Connor's room. Now whenever I can't find her, I go look in Connor's room and find her on the train table.

If you know my kids, you know that they hate naps.
Last week a mirable happened. They BOTH napped! And even more amazing... it happened AT THE SAME TIME! I almost didn't know what to do with that 1 1/2 I had completely to myself.

I decided to try a few of Evelynn's 18 month clothes on her. They're still a bit big, but she especially loved this little dress. I let her wear it all day because she was so excited about it. She would pat her tummy and smile, then jump around excitedly.

I caught this little video of her dancing skills. She dances to anything she hears, including her brother's favorite TV show theme songs!

So, a few weeks ago I eased off of the headband wearing because she was taking them off ALL THE TIME and it was driving me insane. Since she finally had enough hair to put ponytails in her hair I was doing that, but little miss Evelynn was STILL pulling the pony's out. It became an even bigger hassle than putting the headbands on, and she was pulling hair out with the ponytails. I really don't want her to start going bald from it, so I'm back the the headbands. And guess what, she's still not impressed.

I've been trying to do some activities to fight the heat, and the boredom.
I got water balloons from the dollar tree (yay for cheap fun!) and filled some for the kids.
I must admit that I practically flooded our bathroom doing it... apparently the sink can't handle that much pressure. I didn't know why I was hearing water dripping and was looking all over until i stepped into water dripping from under the cabinent. It was such a mess!
Despite the additionally cleaning and mess-fixing, the kids had a blast with the water balloons. I had to keep reminding Connor to share some with Evelynn!

This weekend I decided to put highlights in my hair. If you can't tell from my face expression, I was nervous.

We had Stake Conference yesterday, but it was kind of a disaster for us. You figure it should be pretty easy to locate a stake center building, right? Well, that was wrong. I read on a flier that it would take place at the Tri-cities center building. I figured that if I looked up the location of the stake center, that would be right. Let's just say... it didn't work out that well. We were already late, but after mindlessly driving around trying to figure out where we were supposed to go, Caleb suggested going to the Visitor's Center. We went inside and then a nice sister missionary was able to tell us that the building we were looking for was actually quite close by, like across the street from the temple. We figure we could get there and only miss the first half of conference. However, the kids wanted to walk around. They didn't seem enthusiastic about getting back in the hot car, despite the fact that it was hot outside too. Caleb said we should let them walk around the temple grounds. We found a nice shady area and the kids happily played. I showed Connor the temple and he proudly pointed and repeated after me "That's a temple." By the time they were ready to go, there was only 40 min left of conference, and we figured by the time we found a parking spot, walked in, sat down, we wouldn't be there long enough to be worth it. (We always try to leave a bit early to avoid the traffic getting out).

We also realized as we left the parking lot, it was exactly one year ago that we did Evelynn's baby blessing! It was funny because on that day we went and walked around the temple grounds too.
Both times it was stinking hot outside!

Last night the kids were acting like wild animals and jumping and climbing all over me. (Is it fair for me to blame Caleb for that, since he let them eat too much sugar??? :) )
I told Caleb he had to come save me, and he did. They transferred their overly excited playing to their Daddy. I couldn't resist snapping a picture of it. They just adore him.

Today I was attempting to clean the ridiculous mess that was made when I neglected to pick up toys this weekend, and I looked up to see Evelynn happily sitting inside the toy box. I asked her if it was her club house, and she looked at me like I was crazy. But she wasn't pleased when I turned it over and put the toys back inside it!
