The 4th of July has always been one of those holidays that was big for my family while growing up. And this year, my family has a huge reunion to go to, which made me really, really, really, extra homesick. Thankfully Caleb had the day off of work, so he did his best to let us do whatever I wanted, to help me feel happier.
We started off our celebrating with a nice swim in the pool. It was overcast outside, but pretty humid. The water felt great! Evelynn wanted to wear her sunglasses the entire way to the pool, which I thought was super cute. And Connor got upset because I was taking pictures, not getting in the pool! What a cruel mother, I am.
As I said in previous posts, we bought this little boat for Evelynn. She loves it.
However, Connor has taken a huge interest in it as well!
I told Caleb to put them in it together while I took a picture, which he obediently did.
Aren't they cute?
Shortly afterwards, Connor decided he had enough of the sharing thing. He always is so much more silly when it's Daddy swimming with him! He decided to rock the boat. Then when he realized it filled the boat with water, it suddenly became a whole lot more fun.
I got out of the pool to take a video of it, and then THIS HAPPENED.
So, we tried it again. But Connor remembered flipping over and wasn't too thrilled about the possibility of it happeneing again, so he made sure Dad stayed close by.
After finishing up our swim and everyone getting cleaned up, I took the kids outside to get some pictures of them. I'm sure you can tell from the pictures; they weren't too interested in it.
Oh well. Atleast I tried!
I made us a yummy meal, and then we decided to walk 1.2 miles to the Arizona Celebration of Freedom that was happening. I attempted to take pictures, but obviously, walking and taking pictures is quite a challenge for me. ha!
We got there about 8 pm and walked around, but fireworks wouldn't start until 9:45, which seemed kind of late to us. So, we decided to walk back home. The kids fell asleep and missed the few fireworks we saw on the walk back. We decided it wasn't that big of a deal and that we would do sparklers with them when we got home. Evelynn was fascinated by it even though we woke her up for it, but Connor wanted to keep his distance.
Overall we had a pretty good day, and we were very glad that Caleb has a job that allows him to get special days free of work to spend with the family. Our loved ones were definitely missed, though!
We hope everyone else had a wonderful day as well!
