We have had some amazingly beautiful weather at the end of April! It was so nice that we spent quite a bit of time playing outside. Liam even got to learn about the wonders of slides!! (With brother's and sister's help, of course!)
On the 21st, while Connor was at Preschool, Evelynn insisted on playing with all her babies. I have to say I love her love of baby dolls! She is so cute, always taking care of them and wanting to take them places!
The 22nd was Evelynn's Birthday, which you can read more about HERE.
The 26th the weather turned a bit chill and dreary. Coats were worth out to the bus, but the weather didn't stop the kids from wanting to climb and get pictures taken!
The 27th was a big day for us... It was surgery day for our Evelynn! Back at the end of last year we took Evelynn in suspecting she had strep... again. The doc told us her tonsils were ginormous and that we might want to consider taking her to an ENT and possibly getting them removed. We scheduled for Janurary, and the ENT confirmed that her tonsils were quite large (he emphasized QUITE), and asked if she snores or wakes up restless. After we told him yes, he explained that it was probably inducing sleep apnea and cutting off her air, which is why she always would wake up crying and not sleep well. He advised us to take out the tonsils and adenoids, and we decided to go ahead with it after she turned 3 (to avoid having to get it done in the hospital and stay the night there).
We had to be at the Surgery Center bright and early that morning, and I was pretty nervous. We had let Evelynn pick a doll to bring, and she chose her Elsa. She still clung to her Daddy, though!
When they took her back she got a cool hat, so did Elsa, and she got to ride in a wagon. They said she did so well and didn't cry until she saw us again after the procedure.
She was pretty upset and crying hysterically for me to hold her, so I got to climb up and snuggle with her while she slept, ate a Popsicle, and rested while the anesthetics wore off. The doc told us her tonsils were huge and her adenoids had been covered in pus, so he thought she would do a lot better now that they were out.
We took it easy for the rest of the day, and we made sure to tell her brothers they needed to be super nice to her! She was pretty excited about the water bottle she got from the Surgery Center. She also was quite enthusiastic about yelling at her daddy for not wanting a picture with her!
The next day Evelynn insisted on coming out to Connor's bus with us, although we told her she needed to take it easy. She decided that meant she should wear her slippers out.
After Connor got on the bus, I headed to the temple. I had been wanting to go for a couple weeks, and the previous week I hate asked Caleb if he would mind if I went. He told me it was fine, so I planned to go (all by myself, for the first time).
On Saturday I had REALLY wanted to go to meet me cousin in Draper for an outlet sale, but with Evelynn's surgery I ended up thinking maybe it wasn't best. My dear cousin went though and grabbed a couple things for us! Evelynn was so excited by the princess dresses she got!
On the following Monday, May 2nd, Evelynn worn her Elsa dress and a crown out to get the mail. She was so excited!
On Tuesday I did something crazy... I got a gym membership! I'm constantly trying to lose some baby weight, but it's always hard to find the time workout when the kids aren't awake. After learning a little more about what the membership had to offer, and then discussing it with Caleb, we decided it would be good for me to have that encouragement to get out of the house, NOT have the kids under foot, and get that exercise to help not only with weight loss, but always with my mental sanity.
On Wednesday, we hit the potty training HARD with this kid! We said bye to the diapers and put him in big boy undies. He generally does really well staying dry, but he struggles with the pooping. We are hoping he'll just decide to do it all in when he realizes there's no going back. Everyone say "YAY" with us!
Wednesday was a really long day for us. In addition to the potty training, I also had to run down to the gym to meet the Daycare Director in the morning. Then we hit the library. Later that afternoon I had to go back to the gym to do some volunteer hours in the daycare so that I can have free daycare. The kids had a blast with it though!
Thursday Connor came home and told me he had a "sguise" in his backpack. He was super excited about it, so I waited eager to see what this "sguise" was. We all had some laughs and grins when we saw it! Well,... expect Liam. He was sleeping.
Friday after getting Connor on the bus I went to meet with the trainer at the gym for the first time and did my first workout. I was super proud of myself because to be perfectly honest, I'm so far out of my comfort zone at the gym. But luckily it was pretty empty since it wasn't during daycare hours (thank goodness my hubs has Fridays off!!) and I was able to learn about all the equipment get a plan in place for me, AND I did 20 minutes of cardio without dying. :-) That really was when I felt proud. My family runs -- I don't. I hate it. I feel like I'm gonna die. I can't catch my breath. I wheeze. I cry. I get red in the face, light headed, and my heart starts pouting in my head. That usually encourages me to stop the first second I get uncomfortable. But this time, I told myself to stick it out til I hit a mile, and I did it! and then I did more (a tiny bit more, but still more)! And I didn't stop, and I didn't give up. Anyone else as shocked as me?! I'm patting myself on the back for this one.
Saturday I was taking a nap with Liam when I got a txt from my baby brother say his mission call had arrived! I quickly chased Caleb off the computer so I could Skype for it, and was beyond thrilled to get to watch him open it! He will be serving in El Salvador San Salvador West/Belize. He will go to the Guatemala MTC on Aug 3rd, and we are SO HAPPY for him!
Yesterday was Mother's Day. I woke up to a txt from my cousin saying they had caught some nasty colds, so instead of us going down there for dinner, we decided it may be best if we stay at home. I got the kids and myself ready for church and Caleb grabbed some pictures for us.
I'd also like to note that I chopped 5 inches of hair off before this picture. I had been determined to wait and have a friend do it, but I couldn't take it anymore. I chopped, and it feels so much better! I hadn't realized how long my hair had gotten til I say this picture and say how long it still is after taking off so much length.
All the women in the ward got flowers, and I wanted to run mine out to the car so I could more easily carry everything thru church. I ended up staying out there all thru Sunday school because Liam fell asleep and the rain started waking him when I went out. I jumped in the car so he would go back to sleep instead of waking up entirely. I did get to chat with my brother though, so it was worth it!
After church I grabbed one last picture of the kids. Connor had gotten a birthday treat from the bishop and he was really excited about it being in the pictures.
Caleb had made us a delicious meal when we got home -- Bruschetta Chicken, Mashed Potatoes, and corn. AND-- the wonderful guy-- he had cleaned my living room! <3
I hope everyone had an absolutely wonderful Mother's Day like we did!
