July went by speedy fast for us... probably because the month included 3 trips to Idaho, plus two holidays.
After we came back from Idaho on the 17th, we jumped straight back into our schedules. Unfortunately for me, that included our youngest's walking/climbing progression. Every time we've been out of town Liam works on those stair skills, because the stairs at my parents' house aren't easily fenced off. The first day back, our child attempted to go down them face first. I saved him by literally grabbing him by the foot. This child keeps me on my toes....
He also had me cracking up when he was climbing on top of the toy box to stand in front of his brother and watch the WiiU, and he'd screech and the top of his lungs if Connor tried to move him.
Along with the increase in skills, our littlest has also been teething, which amounts to A LOT of snuggling because he won't sleep anywhere else.
Monday the 25th was Pioneer Day! That morning we got ready to go to the gym like usual, but I completely forgot it would be closed. So, we headed on to the remaining things on my to-do list, and thankfully the library WAS open that day! the kids had a blast playing, and Connor, our little creative master, built whatever his siblings wanted to play with.
Caleb was able to get off early (they were all sent home a couple hours early to get to celebrate) and so we briefly went outside and did some sparklers, and then I took the kids to sit and watch some fireworks out by the road.
Tuesday was a bit of a crazy day for us.... While I was in the shower, Evelynn helped herself to a razor and used the bikini trimmer end on her brothers hair, and ended up slicing open her thumb. It was pretty traumatizing for her, but thankfully everyone was ok and there was no drastic damage to the haircut of the baby. We'll laugh about it one day, I'm sure (and so I've been told). Evelynn insisted on keeping her thumb wrapped up in a tissue and sat on my lap crying until she fell asleep.
The next day was Wednesday, which means it was daycare volunteer day at the gym. While we were there, Connor told me his mouth hurt him and pointed to the back. I made him open up so I could make sure he didn't mean his tonsils, and I saw all sorts of owies back where his 6 year old molars should be growing in. I was pretty surprised, but it looks like he getting them a little early! It's hard to see in the picture though.
Also while we were there, Liam's walking skills multiplied! He was so proud and walked more than crawled the entire 2 hours.
On Thursday, Caleb ended up taking the day off so we could head up to Idaho again-- this time for my brother's mission farewell and my nephew's baby blessing!
We got into town right at dinner time and went and ate with my family. I then got to do some quick haircuts on my dad and brothers before we headed over to Deanna's house. We had decided that since my little sister and her husband would also be in town, maybe it would be more convenient to stay at Caleb's moms and let them have the guest room at my parent's house.
We had quite a laugh that night though. Deanna had let me know the bed was broken but that she had some tin cans under there to hold it up so it should be fine. I'm guessing she only sleeps on the other side of the bed, so that's why there'd never been a problem in the couple weeks it had been that way. But Caleb was only sitting there about 5 minutes when we heard this splattering/crashing sound and then the bed fell down. I was laughing so hard I could hardly breathe, and then I told Caleb he better make sure nothing had exploded. Come to find out, there was shortening under there... So we had to move the whole bed and I cleaned it up while Caleb went and blew up an air mattress.
The next morning all of my siblings and my mom had the chance to go to the temple together one last time before Joseph would leave on his mission and Michael for basic training not long after. We all had such a great experience, although it would have been awesome to have my dad there too! He had to work, but I know my mom loved having all her kids there at once. We don't know if we'll have that chance again for a long, long time, because who knows were Michael will be stationed at after he finishes his training.
While I was at the temple, Caleb and his mom took the kids to the zoo! It was Liam's very first time at the zoo, and they had so much fun! I made sure to get pictures from Deanna and I can tell they had a blast!
Connor's favorite part of the Boise Zoo is the giraffe slide. He adores that thing! It's "super tall and super fast", he'll tell you.
I was told that Liam's favorite part was the butterfly exhibit! He even had a butterfly land on his arm, although Caleb told me he didn't seem to like THAT part so much...
The kids were pretty tired out after such a long day, but after they finished up at the zoo they came to my parent's house where I was just returning after eating lunch. I had to touch up my mom's color and do highlights on my sis, so Caleb ended up taking the kids back to his mom's and picked me up when I was done.
We had BBQ for dinner, and after it was all finished up, the kids helped grandma water the garden. Although it turned into a bit of a water fight.... Connor soaked himself AND his sister, and even sprayed Grandma!
Saturday morning Grandma Anderson made a yummy breakfast for us all, and then I took the kids over to play with their cousins for a bit at my parent's house. I tried to help my sister with a cake. Then we went back to Deanna's for lunch to celebrate Uncle Parker's birthday.
We headed back to my parent's house about 3:30 to do an early family dinner. As soon as we walked in the door, I noticed Connor wasn't looking so well. I took his temperature and it was 102. The poor little guy fell asleep waiting for his food! We ended up moving him to lay on the couch, but he kept getting worse and worse.
We had plans to head to Roaring Springs with all the family about 6 PM, which had sort-of been Connor's idea. I didn't want to keep him home and he insisted he felt a bit better, but the poor guy got worse after he was all wet. He spent the majority of the time wrapped up shivering.
As we were ending our evening of fun, we realized Connor had gotten extremely warm. We decided to stop at the Walmart across the street and buy a thermometer and some chew-able fever reducer (he has issues with the texture of liquid stuff and gags on it). I really started to panic when 105.4 popped up. We immediately gave him fever reducer and went straight back to Deanna's. Thankfully by the time we got home and bathed the kids, it had dropped down to 103.6 and I felt much better about it. He fell asleep in our bed, only to wake up about 3:30 saying he wanted to sleep in the other room. At that point, his fever had dropped down to 102ish. and by morning, it was nearly gone.
We kept up our original plans of all going to the blessing and farewell in my parent's ward, and then to my parent's house for refreshments before heading out of town.
I didn't grab any other pictures, but we for sure had a great visit with everyone we were able to see and made some super fun memories!
On our drive home, Evelynn caught the ridiculous fever Connor had the night before. She temp was showing at 106.4 and while I was inclined to panic, I told myself it would come right down with meds, at it did. The next time we stopped it was around 103.6, so I just let it run it's course and it was down to 101 by the time we got home. I still have no idea what caused it, but we're hoping no one caught it from us!
