We have been keeping SO busy this month, trying to cram in all the last family activities of the summer before school starts -- which is TOMORROW for our little Munchkin! (My heart came hardly bear it!!!)
On the 9th, we started hitting nap time routines HARD. And I can't remember exactly why I took this picture, but obviously it was marking something amazing, so I'm assuming he fell asleep when I wanted him to with minimal screaming. (Hahaha!)
That same day, my Evelynn cracked me up. She loves music and is always dancing. On this specific day we had to send this to Daddy with the comment of "atleast she's not twerking today." (insert laughing so much I'm crying emoticon).
Our Snug-a-bug (our fond term for Liam) is our climbing child... as you'll see in this post. There will be SEVERAL videos of him. One of his newest skills is climbing ladders (unfortunately for mom.)
On the 10th, Evelynn started the morning with some snuggling, complete with her ballerina barbie. She's been asking for weeks when she will have dance, and we just got her registered this weekend, bought her ballet and tap shoes, and bought her leo and tights. She's THRILLED, as I'm sure you can imagine.
Later that day kids and I did a splashpad playdate! They LOVED it., which left me wondering why we had waited this long to go at all this summer.
This picture was just to show the intensity of our girl's curls (thank you, Grandma!). When her hair is allowed to dry without being combed, even a braid can't stop it's curl! The whole braid ended up curling and it was so funny to me (the mom with seriously stick-straight hair).
We had to go straight from splash pad to the gym for our daycare volunteer hours, After we got home and I was making dinner, I looked down to see Liam climb into this dump truck. He was really enjoying himself until he stood up in it and it tipped him out.
The next afternoon the kids and I were cleaning, and Liam was NOT thrilled about it. He climbed up the boxes in his room, planted himself on top of the toys he wanted, then proceeded to scream at me because he couldn't get them. I have to admit... it was HILARIOUS. Totally Instagram worthy!
That same evening was our Ward's pool party at the aquatic center. The kids were so excited about going to swim, and they were thrilled because Daddy joined us after he got home from work,
The next day was a Friday and I wanted to hit two classes at the gym. Since daddy is home of Fridays, I left the kiddos with him and went to sweat it out. In between classes I checked my phone to and Caleb and sent me this picture and video... (Sorry if it's sideways. It's worth it though... you'll see some of his climbing skills!)
Saturday we had plans to go to the family reunion of Caleb's Grandma. We were so excited! The kids (especially Connor) ssaid they remembered the big slide and Connor really wanted to go on it.
We let the kids play in the kids area first, and Liam had a blast. Evelynn wanted to be carried the whole time, but Connor was obsessed with the frog slide.
I successfully dunked our poor Evelynn trying to take her on the big slide. Caleb had been going down with them, but I figured if Liam sat with Great-Grandma, I could take Evelynn and Caleb could take Connor. Well, when I went down my feet landed wrong and I lost my balance, sending both of us under the water. She wouldn't go down with me again... although Connor would. He said I went faster than Daddy. But then I accidentaly somehow dunked him as well. I hadn't realized it, but he was coughing and told me "You DUMPED me mommy!!!"
After that I told Caleb I wanted to get a video of him going down with Connor. So, I went ot take Evelynn to get wrapped up and figured I'd hold Liam while I took the video.
The following picture was taken seconds before I sent us on a little trip into the water.
I saw Caleb and Connor in the water and figured I'd go grab a picture of them. I glanced down, didn't pay too much attention to the depth, thinking it was just a tiny step down (.5-.6). Well, low and behold, it was actually 1.8 down... so I fell face first into the pool with Liam AND the phone.
Of course there was no video after that... and I managed to try to drowned all 3 of my kids.
I'd say it was a successful night. (NOT!).
We did have fun though, even with my clumsiness.
Monday was a pretty low-key day, but I had one heck of a time keeping this baby or our's from climbing on to the desk. We even sent Daddy a picture so he could see our little stinker!
Tuesday was another day at the gym, but it was a successful one! I had been working on a running program (which you can read about here if you really want to).
Wednesday was another daycare volunteer day. Connor was the star of my little video this time around.
Thursday Evelynn started getting REALLY clingy and whiney...
I was so frustrated with her, but then she fell asleep in my lap. I totally thought to myself "PICTURE OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN!!!!" So we sent proof to daddy that she was actually napping.
After she fell asleep I moved her to the couch and worked on some cleaning. Liam decided that me vacating the computer chair meant it was his for the taking. He climbed up there over and over and OVER again, warranting a picture for Daddy of how his chair was no longer his. Haha!
Later that evening, the kids and I went to the Farmer's Market down the road with some friends, plus we had a picnic! I didn't take any pictures, but we did have fun! I was glad Evelynn had taken a nap because she was GRUMPY. Connor ended up needing one though!
After we finished up with our meetup with friends, we head to Back-to-School night for Connor! He got to meet his teacher and was so excited to see where he will be doing Kindergarten!
Friday Evelynn and I made some new bows. She was quite willing to show off one of her favorites.
And of course, as i promised you... another video of this kid's skills. He climbed up here on his own and then was bouncing around on it and I couldn't help but laugh at him.
Saturday was an 80's theme in the Zumba class I like to go to.
I'd tried to pull anything that seemed somewhat era appropriate from the closet and wear it, which wasn't much. Haha!
When I got home, I sat down on the couch and Liam climbed up by me. The next minute I realized he was breathing like he was asleep. I was right -- fallen asleep leaning on me!
I let him get his nap in because we had plans to take advantage of the free family day at the Dinosaur Park that afternoon.
The kids were so excited to go!
At one point I did lose Connor though... I was so panicked. Then I saw two ladies with him as he cried. They were telling him they'd go find his Mommy. He'd ran off to the slide he loves so much and I hadn't seen him go over there.
Liam was fascintated by all the dinosaurs. He's obsessed with pointing lately and pointed at every single one he saw to make sure we knew he was seeing it.
Although we've been to the dinosaur park before, I'd never noticed this spot for pictures before. We decided we needed to take pictures for Grandma's!
Worlds Most Dangerous Creature(s)!:
The kids wanted pictures by this triceratops.
And by whatever this green one is.
I had wanted a picture with all the kiddos and daddy, and Caleb picked this one for a picture. And honestly, it's one of my favorite pictures of them!
One the 21st, Liam had a rough time. We've been working on weaning, and on this particular night, we began the last step. ZERO nursing sessions!!
If you're wondering how he felt about that ... he screaming for a solid 30 minutes before falling asleep. Hopefully that answers your question.
But thankfully I can say that we are completely done and he doesn't even fight it anymore. He cries for less than 5 minutes every night (usually even less than 2) and then goes right to bed, sleeps thru the night, and wakes up a happy camper.
I normally nurse my kiddos a while longer, but with school starting I really wanted him on a consistent sleeping schedule. Unfortunately none of my kids have ever slept thru the night until they were fully weaned, so I knew it was necessary. I'm relieved he doesn't even miss it though!
Tuesday was a tough day for Miss Evelynn. We headed to the gym, but the workout was interrupted when the daycare director came and told me Evelynn had gotten bit. She was pretty upset (understandably), and the only thing that would make her stop crying was saying we could send a picture to Daddy.
Our climbing child was full of energy that day, and he celebrated by climbing in his jumperoo AGAIN and standing there screaming hysterically until I told him it was quite enough.
The rest of last week was pretty exhausting because all 3 kids caught small colds... they all had low fevers and were very whiny and needy. Because of that, I didn't do much picture taking between then and the weekend.
Friday I had a doctor appointment and Caleb took the kiddos to a park to play during it. They loved the swinging, according to Daddy!
Saturday we went to the aquatic center to go swimming one last time before the start of school.
Yesterday I took a picture of Evelynn and I because it was "selfie sunday". Well, that's not really why. I did it because Evelynn wanted a picture... and because I was quite put-together for once! I even got compliments. Haha! I also made it to all 3 hours of church, Sunday school included. Anyone else impressed?
And on a side note... I've lost over 11 lbs this month! I'm hoping to keep up the good work even after school starts up for me in a few weeks.
