AFter Christmas, the first thing that was on Caleb's list was to move Liam to a toddler bed. He's been climbing out of cribs, and in the middle of the night when he's tired, he starts knowing the boyboxes over and we wake up to a loud crash and go running in there only to see that everything is fine. After 4 nights in a row of that, Caleb said it was decided. He wakes at 4 in the morning, and waking up so many times in the middle of the night isn't ideal for him, so we made the switch.
(Liam isn't much of a fan, and now he's not sleeping AT ALL when I want him too...)
We've been spending a lot of time with me sitting in the hall counting how long it takes for him to leave his bed and me take him back....
Basically, NOT LONG AT ALL.
Another thing on our to-do list was to set up my Christmas present ( a TV stand so my cedar chest isn't being used as one!!!!) so we can move my cedar chest upstairs and put the things in it that I procrastinated unpacking since it wasn't really ideal to have it full of things we couldn't actually access. While going through it, I found some old stuffed animals that Evelynn fell in love with. Basically, they're her's now. I'd been saving them for a future daughter some day, and I've got one now. (Side note: the dark-skinned baby doll was actually Caleb's, not mine. but she's obsessed with it and the matching one she got for Christmas from Caleb's dad and step-mom).
On the 28th, Caleb's mom and sister's came in to town, and they brought some last-minute gifts from my parents. My kids were quite thrilled to open them!
We had pizza for dinner, and then Caleb had to go to bed (he had work the next day), and Deanna was of course tired after a day of driving, so I put the kids to bed (except Liam wasn't a fan of that idea), and the girls and I played life and complained how the new version was weird. I didn't take any pictures of that, but I'm pretty sure they girls were snap chatting during it, so at one point of another, there was proof of it happening. Haha!
Thursday we woke up, had breakfast, chatted, and did a haircut. Then we decided ti would e fun to take the kids to check out the Treehouse Museum. Caleb had told me before it's a really cool place, so I was excited to go see it!
It was just as cool as I had been told! The kids absolutely loved it, and we want to go again some time with Daddy, and we even told the West Grandparents about it!
We took a couple pictures in the Japanese section to send to Daddy.
There was a little section that had Germany written on it that had a puppet show, so Connor put on a puppet show with flying sheep for his little brothers. Haha!
Evelynn and Grandma had a tea party.
Connor was obsessed with the trains. I had to bribe him away from this section!
Occasionally I remember to snap selfies... the third wonderful sister-in-law was off with my younger children somewhere!
There was some kind of an Asian market, and it had this that Connor was obsessed with! Of course that means pictures with everyone who was there in that moment.
There was this adorable exhibit about caring for baby pandas, and if you know my Liam.... that means he was snuggling it up with those stuffed pandas! He's an animal lover and a stuffed animal lover.... for sure!
There was a slide outside the panda exhibit, so the kids enjoyed it a bit (Connor at a later time, he was no where to be found at this exact moment, but neither was Macie, so it was OK).
Eventually I started to worry that Connor and Macie were nowhere to be found, so I went looking for them. I nearly passed them by, until I glanced through the Diner window as I walked by and saw a cute kid where something similar to what Connor had been wearing.... then realized it WAS Connor in there serving Macie!
We had the others join us, which meant we got TWO chiefs.
While I had been hunting down Connor, the kids had been having a blast with everyone else.
I also learned Connor had done the FireTruck exhibit with Aunt Macie
We took a look at the Oval Office
And the Medieval area with castles, and even the sword in the stone
At this point, Liam was utterly exhausted. Doesn't that face just scream "Nap... Please...."?
We were about to leave when I had to take kids to a potty break. As we came out of the bathroom, they were prepping for a dragon parade on their Chinese exhibit, so we decided to wait.
The kids were so excited!
After they finished, Connor apparently got a bloody nose at some point. No one had bothered to say anything , so as soon as he got around the parade to where I could see him I grabbed him and got him cleaned up.
Then we snapped pictures and headed to Chickfila for Lunch!
Thanks, Grandma Anderson for the wonderfully fun day!
That evening they had a wedding to go to so it was a pretty simple night.
The next day, they had some shopping and important things to do in the morning and early afternoon, so we met up with them in Salt Lake latter in the day.
We walked through Temple Square to the Beehive House, went on a tour, and then checked out the lights. Of course, it started snowing!
I didn't take any pictures of the whole group or of our family, but I did get pictures of the girls and Deanna.
Of course, we had to stand on the pedestal and take pictures!
We didn't really get a good pic with my compaining-loving family (hahahha) so, here's this that will atleast give you a taste of it.
Next we headed to The Old Spaghetti Factory. Caleb told me it was in Trolley Square, which I admit I thought was a made-up nickname. I didn't realize it was actually a place!
I've decided the food was worth the wait! DELISH.
Before we left, Evelynn and I had to run to the bathroom. I guess everyone else decided to take pictures!
It was such a fun time! We enjoyed our visit to Trolley Square.
It was a late night and the kids went right to bed when we got home.
Unfortunately, poor Aunt Macie got sick that night!
The next morning Grandma Anderson made delicious blueberry pancakes for us before they headed out of town on New Year's Eve. We had so much fun with them!!
That night we just took it easy. I put the kids to bed at about 9, then Caleb played games, and I worked on headbands for family who are having baby girls. At midnight, we had some sparkling cider and a New Year kiss, and then I went to bed. It was simple, but wonderful!
