While Waiting on a Baby

During the nearly three weeks we were waiting on Evelynn to arrive, i didn't do any blogging. That was because my wonderful mother was here with me! we kept busy doing all sorts of things. She arrived in the late evening of  Friday the 5th of April  we wanted to try our very hardest to let that little girl know it was perfectly fine if she wanted to come early, but she didn't seem to care much. We spent several hours shopping over that first weekend and walked and walked, but as everyone already knows, little Evelynn did NOT come. So, we went through the entire next week and tried to come up with more fun things to do, that would involve a whole lot of walking.

Our first fun thing we did was Zoo visit #1. We spent several hours there and it was only about 80 degrees and quite windy! we saw all sorts of animals, but i won't bore you with those pictures. We went to a little farm area of the zoo we had never been before, and Connor thought the tractors were AWESOME!

We spent some time doing scrapbooking, which of course led to more shopping. Eventually we found ourselves at a Barnes and Noble store with an awesome kid's area that had a Thomas train table. How perfect for my little munchkin, right?!?!? It was a lot of fun until that little trip had an abrupt ending with poor Connor not feeling so well. We had to take him home and get cleaned up, but he wasn't happy at all to have to leave that awesome toy!

Another fun thing we did was go and spend some time walking around the temple grounds. We attempted to go in the visitor's center, but Connor was quite grouchy at that point so we quickly left while he was throwing a tantrum. We spent some time sitting in the shade and ate lots of fruit snacks, and i tried to walk, walk, and walk. Connor had a lot of fun running around despite the heat of the day, and even kept trying to get in the reflection pool! I enjoyed it even though i did end up with a bit of a sunburn.

On the days that we didn't do much walking during the daytime, we would make sure we did an extra long walk in the evening after the sun went down. We tried to do a walk every night, and Connor loved getting to lounge in the stroller as we attempted to "walk that baby out!"

The second weekend my mom was here, we did something quite fun; we went to a railway museum! We had tried to go the previous week, but after we drove out there we learned it's only open Saturdays and Sundays. We were a little bummed, but decided we would just go the upcoming weekend instead. Caleb ended up being able to go with us, which was fun due to his love of trains as a child. I was pretty frustrated baby hadn't arrived yet at that point and was feeling pretty guilty for my mom having to hang around so long for no reason! i may, or may not have, been a bit of a party-pooper. But, i think they all had fun still! It was pretty hot outside that day, but we got to spend some time in the air-conditioned gift shop, which resulted in Connor getting some pretty fun souvenirs.

Sadly, the closer we got to our due date, the less energy i had, and the less fun stuff we did. But, one of the last fun things we did was our 2nd zoo trip! I was invited to go by a friend from church, and my mom invited her cousin to come with her. We both ditched each other the first part of being there, but met up again later in the water play area. Since it was warmer that day than it had been our previous visit, we let Connor spend some time getting all wet and he thoroughly enjoyed it!

Eventually my hope faded away that our little girl would come early, and we decided to induce. I didn't want my mom to have to hang around even longer while we waited! At that point my energy level was pretty much down to zero, but we tried to spend the last few days getting ready for the baby. We did some meal planning, grocery shopping, cleaning (all sorts of it!), and tried to finish up any unfinished projects so that we would welcome our little girl without any stress! I was so relieved to have my mom there to take care of Connor! i think it was nice to have Grandma here to meet her granddaughter! She was here a full three weeks and went home on the 26th. Here are a few cute pictures of Grandma West and Evelynn, since you've seen so many of Connor and Grandma already!

I was so grateful to have my mom's help as we waited for Evelynn's arrival, and the few days afterwards while i recovered. Connor had so much fun with her, and can't wait for Grandma's next visit!
