I began July with a horrible cold. Cold's are never fun, and being 38 weeks pregnant isn't always as fun as it should be, but combining the two events is really, REALLY not fun.
My sweet mother took pity on me and decided to come down from Idaho to help me with the kids and pack up our apartment for the upcoming move.
The kids and I spent the 1st cleaning and shampooing carpets. While I was cleaning, I realized Evelynn had been WAY too quiet the last 15 minutes... so I went searching for her. I was relieved when I found her tucking in her baby Elsa and telling her "night-night!"
My mom got into town that night, and the next day I went to a doc appointment, and then we did some cleaning/packing/errands.
On the 3rd, a friend of mine came into town who I haven't seen in quite a while. She brought her kids and we went to the pool, and my two kids had so much fun with her's! Connor wouldn't let me near him at all. He told me to scoot back and let him swim himself! Thank goodness for these puddle-jumper floaties, or I would have been in such a panic!
That evening I really wanted to go see a movie... so Caleb stayed with the tired out kids, and my mom and I went to the cheap theater to see Cinderella!
On the 4th, my mom and I went to drop off some recycling at the recycling center. The kids wanted to go too, and insisted on getting out and walking around the playground for a little while. It was soooo humid and hot, that it didn't last long. But we did have fun!
That evening we did some sparklers and pop-its with the kids. It was really humid and I was pretty miserable, so we didn't do much and took it easy. The kids had a lot of fun and loved spending time with daddy!
On Tuesday the 7th, Caleb and I got to go out on a much needed date. My mom watched the kids while we went to dinner and then saw Jurassic World. We went to a theater that had nice chairs that recline and it was just what my pregnant feet needed!
The next morning I had a doctor's appointment. It would determine whether or not my cervix was favorable for an induction, so I was pretty anxious. Although I really wanted baby to come on his own, we are moving at the end of the month and knew we couldn't wait all that long for our little guy to arrive. The appointment revealed that I could be induced, so we scheduled an induction for Monday the 13th -- the day before our due date.
On the way to my doc appointment, Evelynn insisted on being fully accessorized, complete with her favorite purse! What a girly girl she is. We laughed and said she must be taking after her Grandma Anderson.
Thursday we decided to go something fun and go to the zoo! It started out a beautiful day, in the high 90's, overcast, and with a breeze. We were thoroughly enjoying it!
Grandma also treated the kids to a ride on the carousel while we were there.
Half way through our adventure, it heated up and the sun came out. That part wasn't near as pleasant, but we cooled off in the water area and the kid had a blast with it!
Friday and Saturday we took it pretty easy and worked on packing and cleaning the house, but Sunday we had a big event because Connor gave his very first talk in primary! The topic was "I can follow Jesus Christ's example", and I had helped him write a talk and practice it. I was worried it wouldn't go well, but he was so excited about the talk and repeated nearly everything I said. Yeah, he might have had his mouth all over the mike which made him mumble a ton, but I was so proud of him and the fact that he was so excited and didn't get scared! He did SO well!
And later that evening Grandma made chocolate chip cookies with the kids. They were thrilled! And kudos go out to my mom for taking the time to mix it all by hand because I don't have a fancy mixer. :) I will admit I ate way too many cookies and milk that night! YUm YUM!
