First Week of Life

Liam's first night at home was one of the better ones we've had. Liam actually sleeps pretty well. But he sure wasn't thrilled about bedtime that first night! How cute is he in these little newborn pj's that belonged to my nephew before they were given to big brother Connor?!

On the 16th, the condo we are currently renting was scheduled to be shown. It wasn't convenient for me, considering the fact that I had just come home with a brand new baby the day before, but my mom and I planned to meet up with her cousin at the Mesa Temple Visitor's Center in order to get out of the way so it could be shown.

It was hot, so we spent some time sitting inside, and I was physically, mentally, and emotionally exhausted just by the short little trip down the road with all three kids.

After spending some time inside the visitor's center, we sat outside in the shade and ate some grapes and strawberries. It was then that I received a txt message asking when I hadn't been home to let the agent and prospective renter inside to view the place. I was so upset because no one had told me I needed to be there for it! Showings usually don't involve the current tenants, and it seemed awkward and weird to be in the way with my kids while they viewed it. I went home to wait for them to return, which never actually happened. It was a huge disaster of a day, and I was thoroughly worn out by the end of it! Atleast I was able to take my kids to the temple ground and visitor's center one last time before we move.

Friday the 17th I had Liam's follow-up appointment with his pediatrician. I can't remember was his weight was at, but I can tell you that he has been putting weight back on since then!

Here he is in his milk-drunk state.

We also insisted on taking some picture of Grandma with these Barthlome grandkids of her's.

The 18th was filled with lots of packing. If anyone hasn't heard our news, we are moving to Utah next week! My mom has been such an angel helping me pack and clean the last couple weeks that she has been here. I don't know how I would have done it without her!
The kids have been doing their best to learn how to adjust to this new baby brother, and some are handling it better than others (specifically, Connor is doing pretty great-- Evelynn is taking it hard!)

I didn't take pictures on the 19th, but that's mainly because I really wasn't feeling well that day. Caleb had felt somewhat ill the day before, and I don't know if I caught something or if exhaustion finally caught up to me. My feet were still so swollen, I had a horrible headache, and I was hit with a case of the baby blues. I napped for a lot of the day while my Mom and Evelynn went to church (Connor didn't want to go, plus he had a yucky nose), and then was up and mobile for a few hours, until my stomach started to feel queasy and my head hurt again. I went to bed early that night and slept hard.

Daddy was so nice and watched baby brother when he didn't need fed so that I could rest.

Monday I took Liam to get his newborn screening test. The kids slept in the car with grandma with the A/C on full blast, and Liam slept through most of the wait time in his carseat. After we had been there about an hour waiting for out turn, Liam woke up, filled his diaper, and screamed in anger that I wasn't promptly changing him. I had to get up and ask where I could change him, and then thankfully, it was our turn right as I finished up with that. He did so well getting his heel pricked! He didn't scream, he just sucked on his pacifier and gave me a look of "why are you making this happen, mommy?!?!" and whimpered. I hate that test. Never gets an easier.

Tuesday Liam turned 1 week old! He had a lot of firsts. He woke up that morning and projectile spit up all over me while he was nursing. When I changed him in the morning, I noticed his umbilical cord stump had fallen off! I don't remember it happening quite that fast with the other two kids, but hey, Daddy had been saying he needed a bath. So I guess that was Liam's way of agreeing with him!
Then while we got packing and cleaning done, he slept and sat around like all adorable newborns do. I was pretty preoccupied that day, because we were trying to apply for housing in Utah so that we won't be living in a darn hotel next week!

Shortly before Daddy came home from work, Liam woke up from his nap and had peed through his entire outfits and blanket. I decided it was the time for his bath. Daddy came home to this cute baby wrapped up in a blanket to keep warm while I readied his bath. I'll admit Daddy wasn't quite so thrilled when shortly after taking him from me, he was pooped all over. I was pretty amused though!

Before brother's bath, Evelynn and Grandma gave HER baby a bath. She was so excited about it!

Liam loved his first bath! He didn't cry at all, and just relaxed in it like it was the best thing he'd seen all day!

After he had been cleaned up, dressed, and fed, he fell asleep. My mom and I decided that after dinner we could take the kids for a night-time swim to wear them out before bed. They tend to get a little crazy when they're cooped up in the house too much, so we thought it might be a good treat for them. I can tell you that they LOVED it! I went with and watched and took pictures from one of the tables pool-side.

Yesterday we had just a couple errands to run between  the packing and cleaning we had planned to complete. We needed to go to the post office to mail Liam's birth announcements out, and when we arrived there, all three kids were asleep! We almost wished we could make up more errands to run just so we had an excuse to stay in the car and let them sleep! Liam and Evelynn napped more when we got home, but Connor was wide awake after.
