Big Things for January

I haven't updated our blog since our return from Idaho. It's a bit of a busy semester for me this time around, but I'm going to try to keep up on the updates for the family in Idaho!

When we got home and got all of our Christmas stuff taken down, I decided it was time for the Jumperoo to come out of storage. At first Liam wasn't sure what to think about it, but since then, he's decided it a pretty cool thing and does a tiny bit of bouncing in it.

We also had another "first" on the 4th, which was Liam's first solids!

In the last 2 week's he's really got the hang of it and his favorite seems to be banana. His first time around we did rice cereal, but he doesn't seem to like the consistency mixed with breast milk and gags on it. He loves purees though!

On the 8th we took a visit to Costco while Connor was at Preschool. We let Liam sit in the cart for the first time, and boy was he thrilled!

Later that day we moved Liam from the bassinet in our room, to the crib in his very own room. We used to have it the playroom with the spare bed in it, but now it's just Liam's room with the spare bed and all the other baby things. The kids were really excited about it-- including Liam!

The following Sunday (the 10th) I took pictures of the kids (well, Connor refused, so just the other two) for their first Sunday of the year. We had missed the 3rd because we were all sick after returning from Idaho.

On the 14th we walked out the door to see it had snowed over night. It was perfect because Connor's class was going outside to do snow activities that day, and instructions had been sent starting a week prior to make sure the kids all had snow-worthy clothes for Preschool. Connor was thrilled!

The next day was Friday, but Connor didn't have Preschool. We took it easy all morning.

Liam practiced getting in push-up position. He's really working on the crawling thing. Apparently this is how he says "yay for being 6 months old.".

AND he practiced sitting unsupported.

All of his practice must have worn him out, because while I cleaned, he fell asleep in his Jumperoo.

Later that evening, we all drove to Salt Lake. I had plans to meet up with my cousin at the Salt Lake temple and do a session, but the freeways here really stress me out. Add that in with driving in the dark, and it snowing... let's just say, my husband was SO sweet and took the kids to a trampoline park and dinner while we were in the session.

It seems they REALLY enjoyed themselves!

I had a great time, too! It was my first time in a live session and was a really cool experience. I'm SO grateful to have such a wonderful cousin who takes the time to hang out with me and even go to the temple with me! I guess I owe a thanks to her wonderful family as well, for letting her take the time to do it with me.

Last Sunday was a bit of a rough one. Usually Liam is really well-behaved through Sacrament Meeting, and then after I get the kids to their classes, I take him and feed him. Sunday he got really fussy through the last 20 minutes of Sacrament meeting and decided he was starving and needed fed immediately. I had to take all the kids to the mother's room, and they were running around wild while Liam grumped about the fact that he wanted to eat, but he wanted to watch his siblings. I had to get the kids to their class on time, but then returned to the mother's room afterwards and feed him again until he fell asleep. Thankfully he's a sweet little boy, and loves me even when I grump at him and his brother and sister!

On the 20th I snapped some pictures of my cute little kids just for the heck of it. My class-load this semester is more than I usually do, and I've been stressed and somewhat grumpy with the family. I decided I needed to set time aside to just let them play, and not worry about the mess or the cleaning that needs done. I think they appreciated it. Liam and Eva helped me cook, and Evelynn decided we needed to try Liam's sunglasses on him. We think he rocked them!

This last week Liam slept through the night 4 nights in a row. On the 21st he even put himself to bed! He was so hyped up that I was trying to rock him and he was turning around and laughing and throwing himself around, that I decided rather than drop him I should just put him in his crib to play. When I came back a couple minutes later, he was fast asleep!

Yesterday the kids looked so cute when we went out to the bus. I couldn't resist snapping pictures!

When we came back in, Evelynn and I did some cleaning while watching The Little Mermaid. Evelynn was so excited about the songs! She also insisted on watching Frozen after the Little Mermaid was done.

Liam has been practicing his push-ups, and did it nearly all day yesterday.

On a side not.... I guess you can see why we were cleaning. Our house gets so messy during the week while I'm in school, and then we do a bunch of cleaning Friday and Saturday to make it presentable again. Don't worry, I DO clean my house, I just don't stop and clean before I take pictures. :-)

This cute kid ended up falling asleep on Daddy's lap playing video games. He didn't want to nap before that because, well, I guess he had more exciting things to do, like working on that crawling.

Connor's preschool always has cute concepts and themes they work on each week. This week they did some frog activities, and Connor got this little frog that you launch and he "leaps" through the air. He was so excited about showing us! He had come home really sad and ended up telling us he'd gotten hit by a friend, so after some comforting from mom and dad, he was eager to show us what he's worked on at Preschool and what he'd gotten to bring home.
