4th of July Weekend - Camping + Hotsprings Mini-Reunion + North Ogden Cherry Days

We started July off by heading up to Idaho for an overnight camping trip with my family at Banbury hotsprings. My kids were so excited, especially since this was our first family camping trip!

When we got there we set up tents and waited for all the family to arrive before dinner. My kids were pretty thrilled when they also got to see their Grandma Anderson and her boyfriend Bob. Bob lives not too far from where we were at, so they decided to come spend some time and see us. We took the kids for a little walk down by the river and grabbed some pictures.

After pictures and food, we hit the pool for some swimming. My MIL was so kind to take some pictures for us! Connor loved it, but Evelynn wanted out, so luckily she got to sit with Grandma.

After swimming we did S'Mores at the fire, but the kids were pretty tired at it was around 11 at that point. We headed to bed, but Evelynn tossed and turned for hours that night. It wasn't the most comfortable sleep, but it wasn't horrible, either.

The next morning we had breakfast (we had all prepped tinfoil breakfast burritos beforehand), and cleaned up our campsite to get ready for the mini reunion. I made sure to snag pictures of the little L babies in their matching outfits (and their daddies). Aren't they cute?! Thanks Aunt Minda!

Then my kids wanted to swim, of course. So swim, we did! (With more picture taking!!!)

I think everyone was having a blast. My kids especially loved taking turns jumping to Uncle Michael!

I think I really slacked of with the picture taking, because I didn't take any of the lunch and the rest of the family that came for the little mini-reunion. All of my mom's siblings were there except one, and it was a lot of fun to get to see everyone, even briefly!

My kids swam a little bit more after lunch, but then we headed on our way home. It was such a fun weekend for us!

Sunday I dressed myself and the kids in as patriotic looking clothes as we could find in our closets and had Caleb take a picture. We were all sunburned from the previous day, so unfortunately there were some moody children to deal with, and I had another horrible headache.

We only made it thru Sacrament Meeting before Connor was in tears wanting to go home. He said he wanted a timeout in his room, and surprisingly, he stayed in there without complaint for about 30 minutes before he asked to come out and laid on the couch.

Yesterday was the 4th, and we had some fun things planned to do. I didn't take any pictures, but the first thing we did was go to breakfast at the North Ogden Cherry Days. Then we went home to grab stuff for the parade.

The parade route was right up the road from us, so we drove partially up the road and parked, then walked to a good spot to sit.

The kids got candy from the parade, and Evelynn was so excited to see the Dance studio she did her dance camp at there. She is now reminding us daily she wants to be a ballerina. We're discussing classes in the Fall for her, IF she will actually participate.

After we got thru traffic on our road, we went home for a couple hours before heading back for the Festival in the Park. While we were at home, I grabbed pictures of the kids for our 4th of July celebrating. I always do cute outfits in patriotic colors for the kids on the 4th, so we had to document this years outfits and how big our kiddos have gotten.

I was looking forward to going to Festival in the Park. A lady in the ward does face painting and I knew she would be there, so I wanted to take the kids to see the fun stuff there was. They insisted on playing on the inflatables, and their daddy was perfectly willing to indulge them.

It was pretty hot outside, but Evelynn wanted her face painted, so she stood in line with me and waited while the boys hung out in the shade. She picked out a patriotic crown, and she LOVED it. We thought she looked adorable, and her smile for it all afternoon was totally worth it!

I had really wanted to go to the Fireworks in Barker park, but with Caleb needing to be up early for work this morning we decided it probably wasn't the best idea to go and have to fight traffic getting out afterwards. So, instead we went across the street to the Junior High and sat in the grass and watched fireworks. Every direction we looked we could see some, and the kids loved it!

We also did a couple sparklers, but them our lighter ran out and we couldn't finish. I did grab pictures though!

We thought we had a great spot, because we could see fireworks everywhere PLUS our neighbors were lighting off some big ones we were able to view right overhead. I tried to grab some pictures with Caleb, but of course, he was being obnoxious like usual and I couldn't hold the camera steady. What's new?!

We had a great day together, and are so grateful to live in this country with it's freedoms!
Happy Independence Day! We hope your day was as great as our's was!
