We headed up to Idaho on the 23rd. We had been a bit concerned about roads, but there were only a few trouble-spots where the fog, rain, and slushy-snow made it a bit stressful. Oh, and a spot where some idiot swerved in to our lane and only Caleb's careful driving saved us from a wreck. He managed to slam on the brakes so they swerved immediately in front on us instead of slamming in to our side. We have no idea if they were tired, distracted, drunk, or if they just didn't see us.
We got in to town late afternoon and went to Deanna's that evening. We love Grandma Anderson, but that visit was specifically for one person -- Aunt Cami!!! She got home from her mission just 6 days before, and this little guy of ours still hadn't ever met her!
I handed him over immediately and he put his head right on her shoulder and stayed there for at least 5 minutes. We think he kinda likes her. :-)
When we got back to my parents house that night, I had a lot of homework to do. That meant I was up until 2:30 AM. That's when I learned we had forgotten something important at home....our entire bathroom bag! It had hairbrushes, shower stuff, tooth brushes-- even my makeup!
I'm sure you can guess, but I didn't sleep so well that night.
I was up at 6:30 am on Thanksgiving to run to Walmart and buy what I needed to at least be presentable. So for once, I was incredibly grateful Walmart doesn't close on Thanksgiving!!!!!
Our celebrating started off with a meal at my parents house, but I got to talk on the phone to my military brother and tell him I was going to send pictures first.
While the adult chatted, the kids attempted to play games.
Next was Grandma Anderson's for another meal. And Caleb finally got to meet his first blood-related nephew! Doesn't he look good with another baby on him?! ;-) I'm working on convincing him we need more kids down the road (emphasis on down the road there, ok? )
I was so distracted visiting with everyone that I realize I don't think I took a single picture other than this one. I think I majorly slacked on that one!
We went back to my parents house and Melinda's family was getting ready to head home. I tried to quickly snap some pictures and have her snap pictures of us as well. The animations that my google photos produced from those pictures were priceless, so that's what's being shared. Hahaha!
Friday I had a lot of homework to do, but I also did a tiny bit of Black Friday shopping with my big sister that morning. In the evening, we went to a Thanksgiving meal at my Grandparent's house out in Middleton.
Saturday was the big baby shower for my little sister! She lives in Washington, so we didn't really want her to have to drive later in the pregnancy since it will be Winter-time still.
Her "Baby It's Cold Outside" shower turned out so cute, if I do say so myself.
Before I jump in with the details of the party, let me tell you that my Daddy took all the guys and kids to see Moana so they were out of the house during all the excitement. These pic's from my hubby tells me they had a blast!
Now, I'm not much of a party-planner. But I did try to come up with cute decor! My mom handled invites, venue, and a portion of food and supplies, Melinda handled food (and wasn't it delish?!), and I kept hands-off with only decor (haha) which family helped put up mostly, I just bossed them around and told them what I wanted.

The soon-to-be parents!
Food details -- there was plenty of sugar, but my sis balanced it out really well with some grapes and ham and cheese roll-ups. They must have been yummy, because I didn't even get one. Haha!
One of my favorite pieces of our decor was the Snow-baby diaper cake. Wasn't it the cutest?!
I really should have taken more pictures of the games, but I guess I was distracted trying to run things that I didn't remember about pictures until they end. But everyone who was there, thanks SNOW much for coming!
Later that afternoon we met up with Caleb's side of the family to update family pictures. And then we had pizza, which if you know my kids, that's a total hit!
All credit for these photos go to Katelyn Barthlome Photography, but here's a peak at her wonderful job of the whole family!
The grandkids were kind of my favorite. And this pic makes me go all heart eyes every time, because the very first time my kids met their cousin, Liam ran straight over and tried to give him the biggest hug! It was kinda like "what took you so long, buddy?! I've been waiting!" This just shows how obsessed he is with his baby cousin.
Basically, Connor was making faces in nearly every picture. That stinker! But now we have pictures for the wall of Caleb's family. His mom is holding Evelynn on the end, and his dad and step-mom are on the other side surrounding by kids. And I should add that one of Caleb's step-sisters is missing from the picture, but it's more up-to-date than anything else we've got, and we're excited to get them on our wall!
We hadn't planned to head home until morning, but my little sis was heading out early to avoid a storm, and Caleb started feeling like maybe it would be better if we did, too. We decided to head out and got home really late/early. I was exhausted and fell asleep, but I woke up to Caleb dropping down to 60 on the drive home as we went through a storm that I wished I'd slept through because I was so stressed out of my mind as we were driving through it. But we arrived safely and 24 hours later the snow started to hit us. We were glad we'd headed out a night early.
