Beginnings of June

June started off kind of rough for me, with the passing of my grandfather on the 3rd. The kids and I didn't do much those days, but they sweetly allowed me to spend time playing the piano. I played one of my favorite songs and the kids were miraculously quiet enough for me to record it and send it on to my mom.  They also gave me LOTS of snuggles!

I have been working on introducing potty training to the kids. For a while, just Evelynn was interested. With the start of this month, Connor gained some interest as well. He seems to understand the concept, he just doesn't want to do it. The times I've forced him to sit down, he goes pee no problem. I will admit it's been a bit of a headache to juggle two kids at once, and we have good days and bad days. So far this week we've been taking a step back from it because I can't handle it for a little bit. Mommy needs a break from cleaning up accidents! But we are very proud of the kids for the improvements they've both been making on the potty training front!

June 5th was national donut day. Krispy Kreme was giving away a free donuts to every person, and I desperately wanted one. The kids and I had a playdate scheduled for a little later that morning, so we were needing to drive Caleb to work. I decided that we should all get donuts on the way to work, and Caleb said he would get donuts to bring to his coworkers. Silly me, for not anticipating ridiculously long lines!!! We pulled in to see about 8 cars backed up and a line out the front door. It was about a 30 minute wait when all was said and done, but thankfully Caleb's boss wasn't upset at him about it. We sure loved the doughnuts, and my pregnant belly said it was worth it!

The next day we decided it was time to move Evelynn from our room and into Connor's. We need the space in our room for when baby arrives, and we didn't want Evelynn to feel that her spot had been taken by this new baby. We also felt that it was important to get a new routine established before baby arrives, so that we don't have to juggle two kids up all night, struggling to sleep.

The first night was a bit exhausting for me, as Evelynn kept trying to leave the room, and Connor kept watching my reaction to see if this was something he should try, too. Bedtime was very late, but after an about 30 minute delay, Evelynn fell asleep in exhaustion.

Sunday was our first week back at church after our visit to Idaho (the previous week had been stake conference). I was nervous to see how Connor would handle it, since he had a bit of a rough time at my parent's ward. The day was off to a good start when my little boy saw me ready for church and informed me, " Wow!- You're pretty, Mommy! You have.... eyes! .....and....  shower hair.... and pretties!" The whole thing was a lot more hilarious in the moment. It was as if my makeup made me presentable and he was shocked. haha!

I'm also pleased to say that he was absolutely thrilled to go to his sunbeams class that day and ran right in, refusing the treat I offered him. He just wanted to go to his big-boy class and take sister to nursery!

My nesting phase has been a little out of control lately. I spent a lot of last week seriously regretting whatever I did to hurt myself. I had some issues with my pelvic girdle being unstable during pregnancy, and I sometimes aggravate it to the point that I can't walk without severe pain. On one day last week, I wound up crying and dragged myself to lay on Connor's bed until I could move without feeling like someone had stabbed a flaming hot stick into my lower back/hip. We did not enjoy it. When I say "we", I mean all of us. The kids were extremely concerned!

Evelynn has been in a swimming suit obsession the last few weeks, pretty much since we took her swimming in May. She will rotate through her three swimming suits throughout the day, and wear them like they are her favorite outfit. I will admit that it is pretty cute! But don't believe me just from what I say, take a look for yourself!

Connor has been such a helpful kid lately! Any time I ask him to help with something, he does. I guess it's wearing him out, because the other day he fell asleep on the floor!

I will admit that the kid was probably pretty worn out after a certain, irritatingly cute thing he decided to do. If you only watch one of the linked videos that I post today, make it this one! haha! IT'S WORTH IT! Connor is belting out "no more monkey's jumping on the bed" as he destroys my freshly made bed!
Watch it here.

Friday I had my (almost) 36 weeks appointment. We are down to the weekly visits now. Our appointment was a bit later than usual, so we had more time to kill than we usually do. I decided to take the kids to the play area at the mall where I could enjoy the A/C and the kids could play. I won't go into the details, but I'll just say that the experience ended a whole lot worse than it started, and I REALLY don't like bullies!

The kids were having a blast in the beginning, playing on all the toys. But after a rather horrible experience and tears, I decided to treat the kids to rides and a little toy each to help soften their miserable experience.
