On the 8th, Connor and I got to go on his Kindergarten field trip and we got to ride the bus.
When we arrived and were given our tickets inside, we met up with the rest of the family and daddy got us tickets for the train ride.
The boys had a lot of fun trying to spot the baby giraffes.
We tried to walk and get pictures with the lion statues but there were A LOT of kids and we had to quickly (and a bit impatiently) wait our turn.
Apparently in the summer this elephant blows water out of it's trunk. It wasn't on yet though, so it just blew air occasionally. It was enough for Evelynn to get rather terrified though!
When Connor was a baby, he was obsessed with Elephants. We HAD to grab a pictures with his beloved elephants!
Liam has turned into our animal child. Doesn't matter the size, smell, or color -- if it's an animal, you will hear his displeasure if you don't let him get a peek!
At that point, we went and did lunch. While we were safely covered, it started POURING rain. We were glad we came prepared with some umbrellas and timed our lunch just right! We then ventured out to find the bathrooms. Luckily, it only rained a bit more.
We of course had to take a picture with the bald eagles because those are Caleb's favorite. Connor remembered and pointed it out!
Next we headed in to see the otters.
They were hiding out so we only saw a brief glimpse, then we settled for taking pics with the statues.
There wasa cute log for playing and pictures, so we sent the kiddos to play for a bit. Liam was the biggest fan!
After that, we continued on to see the seals/seat otters.
They were much bigger fans of attention than the other animals were. The kids loved it!
Next, we headed on the the bears (we were pretty sad to not see the Polar Bear -- we missed him by a couple weeks when he died. )
We passed by some more lion statues, so Connor grabbed some more pictures.
Before we left, we made sure to swing around to the monkey/gorilla exhibit. It said they were outsdide, but eventually we learned they were inside. We grabbed some pictures and went to take a peek. The pictures weren't the best so I'm only sharing these.
And of course, pictures with the gorilla! One thing that I can say I really enjoy about the Hogle Zoo is the many fun "picture taking spots", as I like to call them.
And last, but not least, we ended our Zoo adventure with a carousel ride (or 2).
Connor had a blast and it was so fun that we were all able to make it into a fun family activity, even though it was a field trip!
